There are several organizations you can donate your property to; the first is of course Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat is a great organization that helps so many people realize the dream of home ownership.

One of my favorites is The River of Refuge, Kansas City Dream Center .

The Dream Center helps transition the working poor from dependency to productivity and having homes to aid in that transition is very helpful. With the donation of time and materials The Dream Center can make these homes livable for a needy family.

If you just want to be rid of the property you can download this Quit Claim Deed, fill in the blanks and have it notarized.

If you are interested in obtaining a tax deduction for the property, then you will need to have it appraised to assess its value before donating the property. You may then claim that amount as a charitable gift on your tax return.

Donating real estate is a great way to eliminate unwanted property, rid yourself of maintenance overhead and property tax burdens.

Of course if your property has a mortgage on it, you will not be able to donate it until it is free and clear.
